How Much Do You Really Know About Alcohol?

Or that beer originated in what is now Iraq? The production of fermented beverages such as beer and wine predates the smelting of metals, with the history of alcohol spanning over 8000 years. Join us for a discussion of this rich history and gain new insight into your favorite drinks.

Dr. Seth Rasmussen is a Professor of Chemistry at NDSU and the current national Chair of the History of Chemistry Division of the American Chemical Society. In addition to his traditional chemical research on organic semiconducting materials, he has published extensively in the history of science over the last 15 years, with a focus on the histories of glass, alcohol, and plastics.
